Sustainability & Social Responsibility
At Houston Seafood we believe that we have a duty to be environmentally and socially conscientious. We use the major sustainability rating systems to qualify our seafood, including MSC, ASC, BAP and Seafood Watch. We work with our supply partners around the world to ensure that they are using eco-friendly farming and fishing practices as well as helping to better society for their employees and surrounding community. This helps us ensure we are helping create a brighter tomorrow for our industry.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch® program helps consumers and businesses choose seafood that's fished or farmed in ways that support a healthy ocean, now and for future generations. Their recommendations indicate which seafood items are Best Choices or Good Alternatives, and which ones you should Avoid.

Together with their partners, the ASC runs an ambitious program to transform the world's seafood markets and promote the best environmental and social aquaculture performance. They work with scientists, conservation groups, NGOs, aquaculture producers, seafood processors, retail and foodservice companies and consumers to recognize and reward responsible aquaculture.

BAP is the world’s most trusted, comprehensive and proven third-party aquaculture certification program. They’ve been improving the environmental, social and economic performance of the aquaculture supply chain and growing the global supply of responsibly farmed seafood since 2002.

The Marine Stewardship Council is an international non-profit organization. Their mission is to use their ecolabel and fishery certification program to contribute to the health of the world’s oceans by recognizing and rewarding sustainable fishing practices, influencing the choices people make when buying seafood and working with their partners to transform the seafood market to a sustainable basis.
